Making a Mark is a storyline mission, and the first mission available in Chapter V.
The Mission
Intro
Jimmy is hanging out in the boys' dorm with Earnest, Derby and Ted. A highly agitated Pete comes up and requests Jimmy's attention, but is rudely dismissed. Derby flatters Jimmy, telling him the whole town needs to know about him, and encourages him to go to City Hall. Ted likes the idea and suggests that Jimmy take a dump on the doorstep, but Derby's actual plan is for Jimmy to spray paint the building.
As Jimmy leaves, Pete tries to remind him of Gary and runs after him, but struggles to get to him.
Walkthrough
If Jimmy doesn't have any spray paint at the beginning of this mission, the game will instruct him to buy some. Since he starts in front of the boys' dorm, Jimmy can instead pick up a spray paint can found just north of the dorm building.
Jimmy gets to Town Hall. To the right of the building is a ladder that will lead up to the roof. The first part of the roof has some external air ducts and another ladder. This second ladder leads up to a small ledge that has a rubber band on it and a third ladder. The third ladder leads up to a ledge from which Jimmy can reach the part of Town Hall that overlooks the town.
Jimmy must lay three different tags. They combine to spell the word "BullWorthLess". Once the tag is laid, his trouble meter will go to orange, with the police having arrived in front of Town Hall.
Jimmy now has to take a photo of the tag, but to make it easier, he has to deal with the trouble meter first. It is recommended to find a garbage can for Jimmy to hide so that he won't be chased by the police. After taking the picture, he heads back to school.
Epilogue
Jimmy is met as he arrives back on campus by Pete. All hell has broken loose while he was gone. Not only do all the cliques want to fight each other, but apparently they think that Jimmy has failed in his promise to bring peace to the school. His standing with everyone in the school except the Bullies has plummeted.
Trivia
- Jimmy's tag on Town Hall stays there for the rest of the game.
- Pete can be hit with the slingshot before entering Jimmy's room, but doing so will automatically start the cutscene.
- During the cutscene where the police arrive, Miss Danvers can be heard complaining about the graffiti.
- Jimmy's trouble meter will not begin to drain until he leaves the scene of the crime.
- Text files refer to this mission as being the ninth mission in Chapter 5, even though it is actually the first mission.
- Jimmy was originally supposed to get some paint from Clint in New Coventry. Clint would redirect Jimmy to Blue Skies Industrial Park and Jimmy would have to beat up a few Townies to get the paint.
- The mechanics behind kissing override the negative faction changes Jimmy gets in this mission. Any boys or girls he has kissed will remain friendly with him. However, other students (besides the Bullies who remain on friendly terms with Jimmy) will be hostile towards him, even insulting him as he points a camera at them.
